No. 33 OF 1996

UPON THE APPLICATION dated 10th May, 1996 made under section 12(1)(A) of the Legal Profession Act and coming on for hearing before the Disciplinary Committee on the 7th June, 1997 and 8th July 2000

AND UPON the complainant Harold Clarke appearing and having given evidence on oath

AND UPON the attorney-at-law Leeland Playfair not appearing on the 7th June, 1997 and 8th July, 2000 and having not given evidence on oath

AND UPON the Committee being satisfied that the Notice of hearing was properly served on the attorney

AND UPON DUE CONSIDERATION of the evidence of Mr. Harold Clarke

THE COMMITTEE FOUND that the attorney-at-law Mr. Leeland Playfair is guilty of Professional Misconduct

PURSUANT TO THE FOREGOING FINDINGS, THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY HEREBY ORDERED THAT:

  1. Mr. Leeland Playfair disbarred attorney -at-law pays to the Complainant Mr. Harold Clarke the sum of $20,000.00 under section 12 of the Legal Profession Act

This Order is made under section 12(4) of the Legal Profession Act.
