OF THE GENERAL LEGAL COUNCIL MADE ON COMPLAINT
NO. 120 OF 1996

IN  THE  MATTER  OF  MISS  VERLIE  PRINCE  vs  ROBERT  P.  B.  BAUGH  DISBARRED  ATTORNEY-AT-LAW 

AND

IN  THE  MATTER  OF  THE  LEGAL  PROFESSION  ACT

DECISION  DELIVERED  – 23RD  DAY  OF  JANUARY,  1999

UPON  THE  APPLICATION  dated  16th.  August,  1996  made  under  Section 12 (1) (A) of the Legal Profession Act coming on for hearing before the Disciplinary Committee and the matter having been heard on the 10th January 1998, 7th February 1998, 14th February 1998, 14th March, 1998, 18th April, 1998 and 3rd October, 1998.

AND UPON the Panel taking note that the Attorney-at-law Robert Baugh was disbarred on the 5th day December, 1998 and this application was made at a date prior to his being disbarred

AND UPON the Complainant, Miss Verlie Prince and her witnesses having appeared and given evidence on oath

AND UPON the Disbarred attorney-at-law Robert Baugh having appeared on 10th January, 1998, 7th February, 1998, 14th February, 1998, 14th March, 1998, 18th April, and given evidence on oath

AND UPON the attorney-at-law not appearing on the 3rd October, 1998 and 23rd. January, 1999

AND UPON DUE CONSIDERATION of the evidence of Miss Verlie Prince and her witness and the evidence of Robert Baugh

THE COMMITTEE FINDS that the Disbarred attorney-at-law, Robert Baugh is guilty of Professional Misconduct and imposes a fine of $250,000.00 on the Disbarred attorney Robert Baugh

PURSUANT TO THE FOREGOING FINDING, THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY ORDERED:­

That of the sum of $250,000.00 Robert Baugh Disbarred attorney­-at-law pays an amount of $175,000.00 to the complainant in satisfaction of any damages she may have suffered as a consequence of the attorney’s professional misconduct. The balance of $75,000.00 is payable to the General Legal Council.

The costs of this complaint are awarded to the complainant, such costs to be taxed or agreed.

This Order is made under section 12 (4) of the Legal Profession Act.
