NOTICE TO ALL ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW

Attorneys are hereby reminded of their annual obligation to file an Accountant’s Report or Declaration, as appropriate, in accordance with the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations.  Pursuant to Regulation 16(6) the Council may withhold the issue of a practising certificate to any attorney who fails to comply with the requirement to deliver an accountant’s report or declaration.

Attorneys in default of these requirements may also be subject to disciplinary action resulting in the imposition of sanctions, which may include fines for each year of default, costs and, where warranted, suspension or striking off.  To avoid such consequences, attorneys are urged to take immediate steps to comply with the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations.
