In Memoriam – Barbara Gayle

The General Legal Council joins with all members of the media and legal fraternities and the business community in expressing deep sorrow at the gruesome and brutal death of an honourable hardworking and honest Jamaican.

Barbara Gayle was a true professional. She was a journalist who always sought the truth and reported the same faithfully and fairly. Her research was detailed and intense, and so her work was excellent. Her ethical approach was one which should be emulated. She was really an exemplar as a reporter. It is incredibly sad that criminal activity in our country, on which she reported over the years so accurately and well in her coverage of matters before the courts, should result in the taking of her life so tragically.

We mourn her loss, and shall miss her, her work, her infectious and mischievous smile, her articulate approach, and her gentle demeanour.  She was very special. We offer sincere condolences to her family. and would like them to know that she will be remembered for her commitment and dedication to her craft, and her accurate efficient reporting over so many years. May her bright kind and gentle soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon her.

  1. I mourn your tragic death, may your soul rest in peace. You were such a helpful person to so many even if you didn’t know them personally. May the angels receive you in paradise

  2. RIEP Barbara Gayle. As someone who held sway on the news platform, your humility and integrity always stuck with me after our meeting back in 1992, at the Supreme Court regarding English v. Attorney General et all. Your kindness was palpable and your work will live after you and be kind to your memory
