OF THE GENERAL LEGAL COUNCIL

COMPLAINT NO: 80/2014

UPON THE APPLICATION made under section 12 (1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act and dated the 14th day of August,2014 coming on for hearing before the Disciplinary Committee on the 15th September, 2018.

AND UPON  the Respondent Attorney-at-law Charles Ganga Singh appearing

AND UPON the Complainant Hilary Beverley Reid appearing with Counsel Candice Williams

AND UPON the Respondent Attorney Charles Ganga Singh appearing and having admitted through his Counsel to committing breaches of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations for the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and years 2013 and 2014, contrary to sections 16 (1) and 17 of the said Regulations.

AND UPON the Committee finding that such breaches by the Attorney Charles Ganga Singh amounted to professional misconduct contrary to section 12(1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act.

PURSUANT TO THE FOREGOING FINDINGS THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY ORDERED THAT: –

The Attorney at-law Charles Ganga Singh should pay a fine of $50,000.00 for each year that he was found to be in breach of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations 1999, plus costs of $50,000.00 amounting to a sum of $800,000.00 to the General Legal Council to be paid on or before the 31st January, 2019.
