COMPLAINT NO: 194/2017

AND

UPON THE APPLICATION made under section 12 (1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act and dated the 1st day of November, 2017 coming on for hearing before the Disciplinary Committee on the 5th May, 2nd June, 14th July, 15th September, 17th November and 5th December 2018

AND UPON the Respondent Attorney-at-Law Christopher Hibbert appearing on 2nd June, 15th September and 5th December 2018.

AND UPON the Complainant, Hilary Reid not appearing but represented by Counsel Candice Williams on 14th July, 17th November and 5th December 2018

AND UPON the Respondent Attorney admitting to having committed breaches of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations for the year 2016 contrary to sections 16 (1) and 17 of the said Regulations.

AND UPON the Committee finding that such breaches by the Attorney Christopher Hibbert amounted to professional misconduct contrary to section 12(1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act.

PURSUANT TO THE FOREGOING FINDINGS THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY ORDERED THAT: –

The Attorney-at-Law Christopher Hibbert should pay a fine of $30,000 for the year he was found to be in breach of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations 1999, plus costs of $50,000.00 amounting to a sum of $80,000.00 to the General Legal Council on or before 31st December 2018.
