UPON THE APPLICATION made under section 12 (1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act and dated the 29th day of November, 2017 coming on for hearing before the Disciplinary Committee on the 28th July, 2018.
AND UPON the Respondent Attorney-at-law Lenworth Burke appearing
AND UPON the Complainant Novar Patrick McDonald appearing
AND UPON the Respondent Attorney Lenworth Burke having admitted to committing breaches of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 contrary to sections 16 (1) and 17 of the said Regulations.
AND UPON the Committee finding that such breaches by the Attorney Lenworth Burke amounted to professional misconduct contrary to section 12(1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act.
PURSUANT TO THE FOREGOING FINDINGS THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY ORDERED THAT: –
The Attorney at-law Lenworth Burke should pay a fine of $50,000.00 for each year that he was found to be in breach of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations 1999, plus costs of $50,000.00 amounting to a sum of $200,000.00 to the General Legal Council.
The Attorney-at-law Lenworth Burke paid the total sum of $200,000.00 on the 28th July, 2018.
