UPON THE APPLICATION made under section 12 (1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act and dated the 17th. day of October, 2017 coming on for hearing before the Disciplinary Committee on the 19th May, 2018.
AND UPON the Respondent Attorney-at-law Leonie Campbell appearing
AND UPON Complainant Richard Ayoub appearing
AND UPON the Respondent Attorney having admitted to committed breaches of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations for the years 2014, 2015, and 2016 contrary to sections 16 (1) and 17 of the said Regulations and the Attorney having filed declaration for the year ended 31st December, 2014.
AND UPON the Committee finding that such breaches by the Attorney Leonie Campbell amounted to professional misconduct contrary to section 12(1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act.
PURSUANT TO THE FOREGOING FINDINGS THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY ORDERED THAT: –
The attorney at-law Leonie Campbell should pay a fine of $50,000.00 for each year that she was found to be in breach of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations 1999, plus costs of $50,000.00 amounting to a sum of $200,000.00 to the General Legal Council to be paid as follows:
- $50,000.00 on 19th June, 2018
- $50,000.00 on 19th July, 2018
- $50,000.00 on 19th August, 2018
- $50,000.00 on the 19th September, 2018 .
