UPON THE APPLICATION made under section 12 (1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act and dated the 2nd day of October, 2017 coming on for hearing before the Disciplinary Committee on the 14th July, 2018 & 15th September, 2018.
AND UPON the Respondent Attorney-at-law Tamika Spencer not appearing and the panel deciding to proceed in keeping with Regulations 15, 21, 8 & 10 of the Fourth Schedule
AND UPON Complainant Allan Wood, Q.C. appearing with Counsel Candice Williams and Secretary of the General Legal Council Althea Richards, and having given evidence on oath
AND UPON the panel having found that the Respondent has committed breaches of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 contrary to sections 16 (1) and 17 of the said Regulations.
AND UPON the Committee finding that such breaches by the Attorney Tamika Spencer amounted to professional misconduct contrary to section 12(1) (a) of the Legal Profession Act.
PURSUANT TO THE FOREGOING FINDINGS THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY ORDERED THAT: –
The Attorney at-law Tamika Spencer should pay a fine of $50,000.00 for each year that she was found to be in breach of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations 1999, plus costs of $50,000.00 amounting to a sum of $200,000.00 to the General Legal Council on or before 30th November, 2018.
