REMINDER TO ALL ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW

ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW ARE HEREBY REMINDED THAT THEIR ANNUAL PRACTISING CERTIFICATE SHOULD BE RENEWED ON JANUARY 1, 2022.

UNDER THE LEGAL PROFESSION ACT, IT IS A BREACH OF THE CODE OF ETHICS FOR AN ATTORNEY TO PRACTISE AT THE PRIVATE BAR WITHOUT HOLDING A PRACTISING CERTIFICATE.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT A PENALTY AMOUNTING TO TWICE THE ESTABLISHED FEES WILL BE APPLIED TO ATTORNEYS WHO DO NOT APPLY FOR THEIR PRACTISING CERTIFICATE ON OR BEFORE THE 28TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2022.

 

PRACTISING FEES
January 1 – December 31, 2022
Attorneys-at-Law of less than five years’ standing. J$14,400.00
Attorneys-at-Law of five years’ standing, but less than fifteen years’ standing. J$28,800.00
Attorneys-at-Law of fifteen years’ standing and over. J$43,200.00
Attorneys-at-Law who have retired from practice, but who wish to maintain a Practising Certificate. J$10,000.00
Attorneys-at-Law in their first year of practice who apply for a practising certificate after September 1 in that year. J$7,200.00

Payment may be made by cheque, debit and credit cards at the GLC’s office, 78 Harbour Street, Kingston, or via wire transfer/direct deposit to National Commercial Bank, Duke Street Branch, Account#064810995 c/o General Legal Council.
