Denise E. Kitson K.C., the Chairman of the General Legal Council, was admitted to practice in 1982. She was appointed as Queen’s Counsel in 2013.
After a short stint at the public bar, she entered private practice at the law firm of Grant Stewart Phillips & Co. in 1983 where she continues to be engaged principally as a litigator.
Since 2002, she has tutored Civil Practice and Procedure at the Norman Manley Law School.
A member of the Jamaican Bar Association from her admission to practice, Mrs Kitson served the profession as a member of its executive body, the Bar Council for six years. During five of those years, she was the Honorary Secretary. She was also then appointed as a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Land Agency as the nominee of the Jamaican Bar Association. She continues to serve as a member of Commercial Law Committee of the Bar Association.
She has been a member of the General Legal Council since 2010 and chairs its Accreditation Committee and Information Technology Committee.
