John Bassie was called to the bar in England in 2003 and in Jamaica in 2004. In addition to being a member of the General Legal Council and the chairman of its subcommittee with responsibility for the Compensation Fund, Mr. Bassie is also Chairman of the Caribbean Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Chairman of the Board of the Dispute Resolution Foundation.

He is a Certified Tutor of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a certified mediator of both the Supreme Court of Jamaica and the Supreme Court of the State of Florida.

Mr. Bassie is also a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, the Association of Financial Professionals, the Caribbean Lawyers Association and the Legal Reform Task Force.
