Picture of The Hon. Dr. Lloyd Barnett, O.J.Dr. Barnett has had a long and distinguished career at the bar, in the course of which he has served the profession in many capacities. He was a founding member of the Jamaican Bar Association, serving as its president on two separate occasions, and he continues to be a member of its Council.

Among other organizations, Dr. Barnett was chairman of the General Legal Council, the Jamaica Council for Human Rights, and the Caribbean Council of Legal Education. He also served as president of the Organization of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Associations (OCCBA) and has represented the private bar on the Rules Committee of the Supreme Court.

Dr. Barnett is presently a member of the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission as a nominee of OCCBA and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean Bar Associations.

After 10 years in the public service (at the Attorney General’s Chambers and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions) Dr. Barnett has carried on a private practice as a sole practitioner.

Dr. Barnett chairs the GLC subcommittees dealing with the Protection of Client’s Assets and Regulatory Reform.
